EDO Edit: Ryan M. Beshel

December 28, 2012

We’re ever so excited to share our guest editor this week! It’s Public Relations Coordinator at the 900 North Michigan Shops, Co-Director of Media Relations on the Habitat for Humanity Chicago Youth Board, Co-Host of the Speaking of Fashion podcast, AND Chicago’s biggest bowtie enthusiast <drumroll, please> Ryan M. Beshel!

At any illustrious Chicago event, Ryan is the man with the bowtie. He is also the man whose drive and ingenuity launched a new division within the modeling management company, Agency Galatea. An honors graduate from the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago in Fashion Marketing and Management, Ryan has worked alongside Chicago fashion greats and media power houses such as Michigan Avenue Magazine. Continuing in his career path, Ryan accepted a job as the in-house Public Relations Coordinator for the 900 North Michigan Shops – a newly created position within the Chicago retail landmark. In his free time, Ryan is a contributor to the podcast, ‘Speaking of Fashion‘ and Co-Director of Media Relations for the Habitat for Humanity-Chicago Youth Board, which officially launched in the summer of 2012.

Ryan currently resides in the Ravenswood neighborhood with three goldfish and a pile of bowties. He has great love for fashion, people and the fine, fine city of Chicago. Check out what Ryan selected for all the stylish ladies out there – straight from our current auction site.

EDO: Who is your favorite designer and why?
RB: Tom Ford. His clean, classic designs turn my head and his dedication to style – with a bit of eccentricity – keeps me looking. This man can make a suit – and he looks good while doing it.

EDO: If you could have lunch with anyone in the fashion industry, who would it be?
RB: If Tom Ford was unavailable, I’d simply reschedule with Anna Wintour. I can only imagine the stories and insight into the world of fashion that are hidden beneath that straight bang and those dark sunglasses.

EDO: What trend are you loving to wear right now?
RB: I have said it before and I’ll say it again: I. Love. Oxblood! The color is my current obsession – mixed with a strong plaid or check.

EDO: Any advice on how Chicago guys could step up their style?
RB: One of the main issues I see with the Chicago man is fit. We can talk trends all day – but a perfectly cut shirt/suit/slack can easily step you up from Style Amateur to Style Pro. Also – don’t be afraid to take a risk and try something you may have never tried wearing before. It’s only fashion, friends – have fun!

EDO: What’s the best part about your job?
RB: I really enjoy the variety in my work – each day is never like the one before. Be it new store openings, seasonal happenings or event planning – there is always plenty of work to do. I also simply enjoy people – and I’ve gotten to meet so many new Chicagoans during my time at 900. Looking forward to meeting more in my second year with the property!
